One of the quiet advantages of a Dalyan holiday is that getting there is genuinely simple. Dalaman Airport is roughly 25 kilometres from the town — a transfer of around 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic — and the UK-to-Turkey flight network for summer 2027 is already published and bookable.

If you’re at the stage of costing up a trip, or you’ve booked the villa and now need to sort the flights, here’s what you need to know.

Which UK airports fly to Dalaman in 2027

Dalaman is a genuinely well-served airport for UK travellers. For summer 2027 you have four main carriers to choose from:

• Jet2 flies from twelve UK airports including Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Birmingham, London Stansted, East Midlands, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast International. The season runs from late March through to early November, which covers the entire Dalyan villa season.
• easyJet flies from eight UK airports, with London Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool and Birmingham being the most frequent departure points. Their summer 2027 schedule is live and covers 14 June to 26 September.
• TUI Airways operates direct flights from six UK airports and offers a wider seasonal window on package holidays.
• SunExpress (the Turkish-German joint venture with Lufthansa) flies direct from Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham. Often overlooked, but worth checking — particularly if you’re travelling outside the main summer peak.

Between them, that covers most of the UK. If you’re in the North East, Newcastle is your obvious choice. Scotland has direct options from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. London travellers have the widest choice with Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and (seasonally) Heathrow all served.

When flights are cheapest

The usual pattern applies: shoulder season is cheaper than peak.

• Cheapest weeks — early May, late September, October half-term. You can often find return flights in the £100-£150 range if you book ahead.
• Mid-range — June and early September. Excellent weather, prices moderate.
• Peak — mid-July through August. Prices roughly double, availability tightens, and if you’re flying as a family group you’ll want to book early to sit together.

If your dates are flexible, the “whole month” view on the airline booking calendars is worth using — the price difference between a Tuesday and a Saturday departure in the same week can be surprisingly large.

Booking flights alongside a villa (not through us)

We should be straightforward about this: we arrange the villa, not the flights. There’s a reason for that. Booking flights directly with the airline gives you more control, better prices, and full consumer protection if anything changes. When you book a “package” through a big holiday company, the flight is often marked up considerably.

So the sensible order is:

1. Enquire about the villa and get the dates confirmed
2. Once the owner has approved your booking, book your flights directly with Jet2, easyJet, TUI or SunExpress
3. Sort your transfer separately (see below)

That said, if you’d genuinely rather have someone else handle the entire logistics, easyJet Holidays and TUI both offer full packages to Dalaman-region hotels — those aren’t our villas, but they’re a valid alternative if end-to-end simplicity is what you want.

From Dalaman Airport to your villa

The transfer from Dalaman Airport to Dalyan is short by Turkish resort standards. For context:

• Dalyan — 25 km, roughly 30 to 40 minutes
• Fethiye / Ölüdeniz — 55 km, 65 to 75 minutes
• Marmaris — 90 km, around 90 minutes

That short Dalaman-to-Dalyan hop is one of the reasons Dalyan works so well as a family destination. If you land at 3pm, you’re often at the villa with the pool cover off and a beer in hand by 5pm.

You have three practical options for the transfer itself:

• Private airport transfer — a driver waits in arrivals with your name on a board and takes you directly to the villa. Typically £40-£60 for a car (up to four people), a bit more for a minibus. This is what most of our guests choose and what we can arrange on your behalf if you’d like.
• Car hire — sensible if you plan to explore the region beyond Dalyan itself. All the major agencies (Enterprise, Europcar, Sixt, plus local operators) have desks at the airport. We’ll cover the “do you actually need a car?” question properly in a future post.
• Shared shuttle or taxi — cheaper but slower, and given the modest saving versus a private car most families don’t bother.

What to expect when you land

Dalaman is a modern, straightforward airport. You clear passport control (Turkey no longer requires a visa for UK visitors on stays under 90 days), collect bags, and walk out into arrivals. There’s nothing unusual to prepare for.

A few small practical notes that catch first-time visitors out:

• The airport is around 30 degrees when you step outside in July and August. Have a layer you can quickly shed after the air-conditioned plane.
• Turkish Lira ATMs are in arrivals if you want cash, but honestly you don’t need much — most restaurants, supermarkets and taxis in Dalyan take card these days.
• If you’ve booked a private transfer, your driver will be inside arrivals with a name board. If you don’t see them, don’t leave the terminal — call the number on your confirmation and they’ll be with you in moments.

The overall time from door to villa

For a rough planning estimate, here’s what a typical journey looks like from a Newcastle household:

• Newcastle airport → Dalaman — 4 hours 15 minutes flight time
• Airport formalities — 30 to 45 minutes
• Transfer to villa — 30 to 40 minutes
• Total door to villa — around 6 hours

For a family in the Midlands or the South, it’s often closer to 5 hours 30. Not bad for the Turquoise Coast.
