If you’re at the stage of picking a week for 2027, the question isn’t just when can I get time off — it’s which month actually suits the kind of holiday I want.

Dalyan has a genuinely long season, running from mid-April to the end of October. But those six-and-a-bit months are not the same holiday. Here’s an honest month-by-month guide to help you pick the right one.

April: the quiet opener

The first villas begin opening from mid-April, and the town itself is only just waking up. Some restaurants are still closed, the boat trips are running on a reduced schedule, and the pool water is bracing rather than warm.

• Sea temperature: around 18°C — swimmable if you’re hardy
• Prices: the cheapest of the season
• Best for: walkers, birdwatchers, people who want Dalyan without the crowds

Realistically, April is a hard sell for most UK families because the water isn’t warm enough for children and the town isn’t fully open. If you’re a couple who love shoulder-season Mediterranean travel, it can be lovely — but come with realistic expectations.

May: the shoulder-season sweet spot

By mid-May everything is properly open, the flowers are still out, and the days are long and warm without being oppressive. This is when a lot of experienced Dalyan travellers actively choose to come.

• Sea temperature: low 20s and climbing
• Prices: low to mid-range
• Best for: couples, walkers, early-season families, anyone who prefers 25°C to 35°C

The May half-term week (25–29 May in 2027) is a genuine sweet spot — warm enough for children, cheap enough to be a bargain, and quiet enough to feel like a real escape. It books earlier than people expect.

June: warm, long days, still not peak

June is when Dalyan starts genuinely feeling like summer. Days are long — light until well past 9pm — the sea is properly swimmable, and the town is busy but not heaving.

• Prices: mid-range, rising toward the end of the month
• Best for: families with pre-school children, couples wanting reliable heat without August prices

If your children aren’t yet school-age, June is arguably the best month of the entire year. You get almost-peak weather at genuinely reasonable prices.

July: peak summer arrives

School holidays begin and prices climb sharply. Everything is fully open, every boat trip runs, and the pace of the town shifts.

• Sea temperature: high 20s — properly warm
• Prices: high, and rising through the month
• Best for: families tied to school holidays, sun-worshippers

Be honest with yourself about the heat. Mid-July onwards can be genuinely intense by mid-afternoon — 38°C in the shade is not unusual. Villas with proper air conditioning throughout (not just bedrooms) are worth the premium. Consider a villa with some shade around the pool if you’re bringing young children.

August: the peak

The busiest, hottest, and most expensive month. The town is at capacity, the beach is at its most vibrant, and it’s the classic Turkish summer experience.

• Prices: the peak of the year
• Best for: families locked to school holidays, anyone who wants Dalyan at its most alive

August books earliest, and by February most of the larger family villas for August weeks are gone. If August 2027 is your target, don’t wait — enquire now.

September: the connoisseur’s month

If you can travel outside school holidays, September might be the best month of all. The heat softens, the crowds thin, the sea is still warm from summer, and prices drop.

• Typical temperatures: 28–32°C in early September, 25–28°C by the end
• Sea temperature: 26–27°C — genuinely lovely
• Prices: mid-range, dropping through the month
• Best for: couples, retirees, families without school-age children, anyone who wants the best of Dalyan without the August intensity

Guests who have discovered September often refuse to travel in any other month. There’s a reason for that.

October: the graceful close

Mid-October brings the school half-term week (25 October – 1 November in 2027), and it’s become increasingly popular. The weather is still warm, the sea holds its heat, and prices are among the lowest of the season.

• Sea temperature: 24–25°C
• Prices: low
• Best for: half-term families, couples, walkers, those wanting a warm autumn break

By late October some restaurants begin scaling back for the quieter months, and evenings get cool enough to want a jumper. But daytimes are still often 25°C and swimming is still very possible.

November to March: the quiet season

Dalyan doesn’t shut for winter. Some restaurants and shops scale back or close, but the town keeps running, and a smaller number of villas stay available for rental year-round. Winter is a different kind of Dalyan — cooler, quieter, greener after the autumn rains — and it suits a particular kind of guest.

• Typical temperatures: 12–18°C in the day, cooler at night
• Sea temperature: too cold to swim comfortably
• Prices: the lowest of the year
• Best for: long-stay guests, remote workers, winter escapes from UK weather, walkers who want the landscape without the heat

If a quieter Dalyan appeals — particularly for a longer stay of two or three weeks — get in touch. Winter availability is limited but genuinely lovely.

The pricing pattern in one sentence

Prices roughly track the school-holiday calendar: lowest of all in the winter months; cheap in April, May, late September and October; mid-range in June and early September; peak in mid-July and August.

• May and October half-term weeks are small, fixed windows and go faster than people expect for the same reason.
